Since it is the end of the year, I am doing a double calendar special as this week's prize. There is a complete kit from Karen Foster, (papers, stickers & all) as well as component parts including another 12 x 12 blank calendar from assorted companies. Make these as gifts or use as diaries, or distress and alter and use in your art. Just leave me a comment at the end of the blog entry, and I will do a random drawing for the winner next week. Here is this week's question...you had to see this coming!!...New Year's resolutions? Making them?...Breaking them?? ..Loving them...hating them...hiding them...yelling them from the rooftop??? Here is what I am doing...I am going to exercise this year...and I want everyone to ask me, every time they see me, how it is going??? and don't let me lie to you...I have been known to do that. Also, I want to get my art room to the point where I can do more than just walk to the desk...I want to know what is there...you all know what I mean...the piles??
Also, and I hope my staff is reading this, I am determined to get my back office at the store organized and to keep it that way. We are going to have an online store soon, along with a vastly improved web site...so I need to be ready to have a "mail center'" back there. . This list of "to do items" will easily take me all year to accomplish..who knows...I may even surprise myself...now, how about all of you?
Here is a cute project I made right after Christmas (note to self, start these things a little earlier next year)...but it could easily be adapted to other themes. I used the
Melissa Frances wooden frames, some vintage images, silver glass
glitter (on top of the white leaves,) Prima white leaves (sprayed two with Maya Road spray), crystals from 7Gypsies,and paper frill from Birds of a Feather. We have mini-frames, too, so I will try those next. (Photos show the front and back of the same ornament.)

  1. Kate, I am right there with ya on the "Piles"...my New Years resolution is to organize my craft room...which has somehow spread into break-out piles in my study and kitchen...and get it so I know what I have and where it is all in one place. I fear I may be becoming a hoarder and my husband has threatened to move out. LOL.

  2. Very inspiring, and inspires me to start earlier next year, too! Like maybe July!

  3. "I think in terms of the day's resolutions, not the year's."
    – Henry Moore

I love this quote. My ritual for New Year's Resolutions is to fill up a hot bath, pour a class of wine and recapitulate all of 2009 and imagine my 2010!

  4. My New Year's Resolution? I recently purchased a large journal with 12X12 black pages. I intend to work in it every day, even if just for a few minutes. And when that one is full, I will start another and so on until December 31, 2010. I think it will be interesting to see what I do. Anne, yourmainestamper

  5. I too hope to organize my craft area. I am going to make a list of all the smaller jobs that I need to do to get it done. I will start exercising again. I feel better when I get a walk in everyday so I have to do it. I have to write these down and keep checking up on myself. Happy New Year

  6. I am not a fan of resolutions. Instead, each January I focus on what I call "fresh starts." I am still working on my list of fresh starts I want to make in the New Year. My list is leaning towards three areas: creative, health, and spirituality. That is about all I got right now! :-)

  7. I don't set New Year's "Resolutions." Instead I set "Intentions" for the year...it puts a more positive spin...I like Kristen's idea of calling them "fresh starts." This year I have some big and some small intentions....

  10. No resolutions for me, if I amke them and don't follow them then I feel guilty. If I feel guilty I might eat cupcakes to feel better. Then I feel guilty...and so it goes.

  11. I've resolved to get photos of my friends and family framed and on the walls of my scraproom. We've been in the house for over a year now and it's time to put some holes in the walls. After all, these people are my inspiration!!

  12. Oh, dear. New Year's Day is my wedding anniversary, so my resolution usually has something to do with "communicate with my husband better" or "spend more time with my husband", but not this year... This year, they are "Spend more time with my scrapbooking", and "Finish more projects". So, for my fifth anniversary, the traditional gift is wood, and paper is made from wood pulp, right? So I will spend more time with my scrapbooking! (Husband is working anyway!) Sue Dunbar

  13. 1. Creative time every day. 2. Purge unfinished projects by giving away to someone who will use components or finish! 3. Exercise, eat well and get plenty of rest. Hmmm..... I'm going to need more hours in every day....

  14. Resolution...hmmm. I think exercise is the best one. Walking they say is the best - you can do it at your own pace 3 times a week and get great results on the scale as well as a great stress reliever. I also want to get my bedroom back - so putting all my pictures in albums and getting it wallpapered is one resolution I must keep. Good luck on your office. Marie

  16. I honestly haven't even thought of any new year resolutions. But I have made myself a promise. Lose a couple pounds as a Bday gift to myself, because I deserve it.

Love your store, I was in today!

  17. I don't like New Year's resolutions. I just feel guilty when I break them but I do have a couple goals for the year. Simplify my life and enjoy it a bit more. If I can manage to do that the rest should fall nicely into place.

  18. This year, my primary resolution is to say "no" more often. I need the time for my unfinished projects, like my half moved craft room, and using the gorgeous papers I have bought. Another goal is to be in the moment and just take it in.

  21. Every year I make the same resolutions. It is always this year for sure I will get my house and studio organized, know where everything is, so I will have more free time to sit down and make the books that I so love to make. Then before I know it, the year has gone and I am still totally disorganized, so I start all over again with the same resolution. SO, maybe 2010 WILL BE the year I accomplish these things??? It sounds good anyway!

  22. Resolutions are hard to keep :( But, this year, I'm going to try to exercise more, drink more water, and be more positive! :)
    Happy New Year everyone!

  23. I resolve to spend more time saying no to the things I do not want to do so that I can say yes to the things I do want to do. I think that's a good one.

  24. I resolve to do some more crafting. I have picked my knitting up again. I would like to get my scrapping back into a doable thing too. I would like to get my sewing machine out.
