Thanks to all for those great blog and website tips that any of you sent in as responses to last week's "Question."...I will be checking them all out... I did a random draw for last week's posted prize of the Halloween stamps...the winner's name is in the newsletter, so you will need to read it there to find out if you won!! Here is the photo of this week's prize...an alphabet Grungeboard set from Tim Holtz' collection...there are nine different fonts of every letter...ink them, emboss them, go crazy...(Honestly, can you really ever have enough alphabets??)... so, here is the question this week: What do you collect, how many do you have, and where do you get it (them) from...please don't include the following: rubber stamps--we all collect them!, papers, ditto...unless any of the aforementioned objects is unique in some way...in which case, we will definitely need sources!! Also, if you missed commenting on last week's question about blogs or websites, feel free to add a little bit about them, as we all love to look at "stuff."
Here is my answer to the question ahead of time. I collect hands, wings, crowns, skeletons, wooden printers block letters in large form, glass glitter, and a few things I am forgetting...mostly I get them all from ebay, which I go to in spurts...cannot spend time there every day or I will get nothing done...so maybe I look once a month or so. Now, your turn...
Just FYI...something I have been making lately...
Here is a photo of a Maya Road house, done up in Anna Griffin gingerbread paper, with red beaded fringe (we will sell by the half yard,) and a neat little white applique piece on the door that I used alcohol ink all over. In the other picture, which shows the opposite side, I did a paper medallion, which I recently learned from Lynette Carroll (she will be doing classes here Oct. 24 & 25.) It is one of my newest favorite techniques.

  1. Hmmm I collect two things outside of the stamping/paper realm...
I collect the colored insulators that used to be used on top of electrical poles and old weaving shuttles. The colored glass is great on window sills; and the shuttles make very interesting wall art! - Jenny B in Beverly

  3. I used to have a HUGE collection of everything Coca-Cola, but finally sold that off a few years ago. As a family, we have squished penny collection (you know, those penny machines at museums, amusement parks, etc). We have about 30 currently. I also have a collection of Starbucks gift cards. They have such fun designs that I love to keep them even when there is no money left on them. I have about a dozen of those.

  4. I collect Letterboxer Trading Cards (LTC)--essentially Artist Trading Cards (ATC) with the requirement that they contain at least one hand carved stamp. I have over 500, and most of them are mini works of art--and some are just a lot of fun.
I also collect the book The Little Prince, in any language I can get my hands on--I think I've got it in 15 languages (including Japanese, Latin, Turkish, Greek . . .) with 2 version of the English translation and special anniversary editions in English and French.

  5. I collect glass flower frogs (the kind you put in a vase) I use them on my work table to hold all my tools. Everything stands upright and nothing rolls off the table. I find them at antique shops, yard sales etc. I also collect vintage buttons and trims that I use in all my art projects. Love anything old and shabby chic to use in my studio.

  7. I collect Bride dolls. I have about 150 or more. My oldest is from the 1890's. I have even made my own porcelain ones and then made them outfits...
I stopped collecting them when I remarried. My husband thought it was weird.

  10. Hi Kate,
I love your house, and those fun rosettes are one of my new fascinations too. I love making them out of crepe paper streamers!

I do collect many things...crowns because I'm a queen (literally - my name means queen), hands because I'm a Gemini, anything tea or coffee or martini related because I like to drink them, shoes and bags in decorative forms because that's my girly-girl self, miniature chairs and lots of things that are miniature just because they're cute, and many things cat because I love mine!! I do shop on Ebay, but it's kind of amazing how things "find" you when you are a collector (I'm sure you know what I mean!) And I DO tend to collect stamps that relate to all of my collected objects.

  11. I always loved looking at the pictures on stamps since I was a little girl, but only recently started to collect stamps. And, I collect coins - my dad had a collection of coin from his days in the Army in 1945 and that started my facination. I try to incorporate them in my scrapbooking especially if I have duplicate stamps from states that we visit - and the quarters of the states too.

  12. I have a collection of "Just the Right Shoes" and a Lydia Pinkham memoribilia collection. My shoe collection consists of about 20 mini shoes, but my Lydia collection has about 100 pieces, most of which I've gotten on ebay. The Lydia collection has special meaning to my family as she was a great (x4) grandmother of my husband. I have 2 metal stamping blocks that are a particular favorite advertising her quack medicine.

  13. I love to collect cricut cartridges. I buy them all on ebay, not sure if I like to own them all or if the challenge of getting them cheaper is the driving force, but I do love them.

I also collect gold charms from every place I vacation, I have filled two bracelets all ready.

  14. My favorite collection is my dragons--stuffed, ceramic, candles, pewter, fabric, clay, artwork, and many others. My favorites are the "functional" dragons--incense burner, oil lamp, salt/pepper shakers, etc. :-)

In the crafting world, I collect many things, but my favorite is ribbon. I'm so excited to finally have found a way to store and showcase my collection. I have big jars lining a narrow bookcase above my workspace. Each jar contains ribbons tied in hair elastics. The jars hold a ton of ribbon, and it's easy for me to grab the color I want. I can cram a lot of ribbon in the jars without all the packaging! Pretty and functional.

  15. I love to collect Pink Depression glass - even the stuff that isn't the real Depression glass but is made recently. I love the pink turkey butter dish my husband gave me one year. I'm also a button nut. I love all buttons and can never get enough. I see a mason jar filled with buttons at a thrift store and I'm all tingly. Kim L. in Atlanta

  16. I collect wooden signs. I get them from all over... Home Goods, ACMoore/JoAnn's, craft fairs, etc.

I have a variety of areas that I hang them, and change them out for the seasons. Its become such an obsession that I have to alternate some as for some seasons I have too many.

    I love my wooden signs!

  17. I collect Seahorses, I probably have at least a dozen Seahorse stamps and I've designed our Master Bedroom with an Ocean Theme so I would have an excuse to buy these great Seahorse lamps that I got at Home Goods. I get the stampa anywhere and every where. I love checking out little gift shops when we travel and have found some great finds.

  18. I collect so many things!...So since I can't mention the crafting paper, stamps, colorants of all sorts and bling....I will skip the chic(k)things like shoes, purses and jewelry (more bling)....so then there's the interactive and special effect Halloween decorations and my "Teapots for 1's" (small pot and cup in 1)...cute, china, ceramic, doesnt' matter! I know quite a disparity! and then of course, I collect the bills that these collections create by collecting! LOL!

Thanks for Asking! and Thanks to all for sharing! It's quite interesting!
