These cards didn't make it into the recent newsletter, so I am posting here until next week. These cards will be in the Artful Journey, with Patti, on Thursday, June 10,. This class is $15 and runs from 11-2 pm (Bring your lunch.) Patti has used a great layering technique with "inchies."
The winner of the set of Tim Holtz embossing plates is #6, randomly chosen, so that is Catherine, who wrote in the comment area, "Is this similar to the clay you mold and then bake to harden. I have done that in the past to make miniature seals." Thanks for reading and responding, Catherine. Please come in and choose your prize.
Also, here is the answer to your question...This is not at all like the molded clay. This "Mold-n-Pour" product from Ranger is a 2-part substance ...you mix equal parts of the white and the purple together, until there are no more striations, then you push your piece (that you want to make the mold out of) down into this mixture...let it sit for about seven minutes, until a fingernail will no longer leave an impression...pull out the original item, and the mold is ready to go. It can be used for UTEE, which you heat to melting and pour into the mold. It can be used for food, but if you do this you must reserve that particular mold always just for food. If anyone would like to see a demo we are glad to show this at the store.

I am using this Memorial Day to clean my art room..really clean it, though, not just rearrange everything. (which is what my family has been watching me do for years) What I did first was to move every bag/box that was all over the floor into another room. Then I sorted out what was left into what I truly used and what I would sell/give/throw away...so now there is a space in the art room equal to 12 boxes full of stuff, and I am slowly moving all the stuff from the other room back in. I will sort it and determine what goes/stays after it is all back in here, as my family wants the living room back!...but I am feeling much better, lighter, and I am beginning to have my supplies where I want them. ...and to think, this only took 9 years (the length of time we have lived in this house.) Honestly, I couldn't use all this stuff if I retired tomorrow and lived to be one hundred years old...fortunately, my family does not read this blog..I know!...do you believe it?? Looks like I will have to package up lots of my personal stash for the Thanksgiving sale...So, tell me how you are doing with your storage issues...do you have a favorite storage piece?...or how do you keep from amassing too much--or is that just a ridiculous question?

  1. first off - I love the cards and wish I was close enough to pop on over and take the class.

Storage issues....hmmm, yes, as you I have managed to own a lot and always seem to need more - I do have a scrap box, which is very useful for storing things.

    Good luck!

  2. I too, spent the Monday holiday cleaning my craft room. As the day ends, I have all my Sizzix dies in one area for the first time. Small, never to be used, pieces of scrap paper have been gathered and are ready for recycling.
My desktop is clean and organized. All my new goodies from the AE yard sale are sorted and ready to be put away. Am I done with the room? No not by a long shot, but I am pleased and encouraged by the progress made.

  3. amassing too much stuff? woah, what a concept!!! ok, I do have a problem with paper.....but i try to hide it in the basement.....
I have all my rubber stamps in rubbermaid boxes (get it??? where else would you store them????) arranged by either stamp company, or category.....all my a muse stamps are in rubbermaid stacking bins, and markers are in a set of stacking bins too.I use fabric bins also to organize, one that is all chipboard alphabets, another just chipboard shapes, and then one for metal embellishments, chalks, felt, a bin for flowers, etc.....stickers are mostly in sticker binders....but could be better organized. I have all my sixxix in the black sizzix organizers, and what doesn't fit in there I put in a milk crate....I am alittle more organized than I think, but of course it could always be better.....

  4. Too much? Never....! Over the past year and a half I've invested in a bunch of storage and have it in good shape. IKEA has these great shelves that are about 8 feet tall and 15 inches wide that are perfect for storing paper kits!

  5. Hey there Kate, glad to see that other people have the same problem with their craft areas! I regularly go into my craft room and clean - like you said, go through the stuff and purge. All my 'purged' material gets put into a rubbermaid bin that I bring with me to a crop that I go to once a year. they have a big swap table and I dump all my "trash" there. It's become so popular that a few of my other friends are starting to do the same thing. Everything that's left-over at the end of the crop is donated to a woman's shelter. Since I know where the stuff is going, I'm pretty good at doing a 'clean-out' about once a year and when I make room, I don't have a problem buying new stuff!

  6. My goal is to def clean out my sb room ... this summer! I promise! One of my fave organizational spots is my tim holtz area! I actually bought a couple of old suitcases to store all his goodies in. It is inspiring!
I was thrilled that I was able to partake in the yard sale, which has made some room for more wonderful goodies from the store! LOL

  9. Oh my goodness, a topic close to my heart! I feel I am constantly organizing my area, don't have a craft room of my own. Hubby won't give up his office for me. But he has put four storage 3-drawer cabinets on wheels for me so I can bring them into the kitchen/living room when I work (although this is turning out to be a permanent work area).

I really need some good options for my stamps storage so I can see them all rather than digging through layers.

Kate, how about pictures of your craft room and would love to see other peoples too. Love the idea of donating supplies not used. There is a store in Va. beach that provides donated supplies to a Children's Hospital for parents to make cards or projects while there children are in the hospital. Signed up for those lovely cards class on Thurs., see you then.

  10. I love displaying my stuff in glass jars and wicker and wire baskets. Not only does it all look great displayed that way, but I can see everything that I have. For some reason I really need to see all my stuff when I am working on a project!!!!

  11. Can anyone really have too much crafting stuff??? I've been doing a lot of what you've been doing recently--sorting, throwing out, bagging up for a crafters' yard sale at my LSS, etc. I have so many ideas for what to do with all of the stuff I have accumulated! I use photo storage boxes with labels on the end to sort stamps and stickers and I keep these on open floor-to-ceiling shelves with those I use most frequently at eye-level. I also have a lot of items sorted into labeled baskets. I really envy my friend Donna's craft room furnished with Alex cabinets from Ikea and a great adjusting table and stool from Ikea, too. She is sooo much more organized than I'll ever be! Anne, yourmainestamper

  12. This sounds like something I could have written, except that I do believe I'm still in the rearranging phase as opposed to the cleaning phase. My favorite storage pieces are all the former store fixtures (paper racks, wooden stamp shelves, etc) that I have acquired over the years and my IKEA shelving.

My most recent score is a 5 ft high, four- sided, spinning tower for stamps that I just rearranged my entire room to squeeze in. Since every inch of wall space is filled with furniture & fixtures, I think I really just need a bigger room.
